Kite Runner: Reflection

In the book, The Kite Runner , By Khaled Hosseini , is a historical fiction novel that he tells of his life in Kabul. Amir writes about how his life and major events that impact it.  Amir has redemptions of his past and everything seems to go from good to bad all the way. Relationships help give out attitude and appel to conflicts that intensify the plot and the journey through Amir's life. The interactions with characters revolve a lot around Amir who is the main character, Hassan, and Baba. Hassan has a major part in the role of Amir's life since he is his servant and they have known each other since they were born. Baba is Amirs father who makes Amir the man who he turned out to be.

A very important relationship that Amir has in the story is with his dad, Baba. My view of Baba is a tall and strong man. From the way he deals with conflicts i the story he is a bit hard headed and bold. But, Amir seems to see problems in his relationship with his dad throughout the story.
''I always felt like Baba hated me a little. And why not? I had killed his beloved wife... The least I could have done was to have had the decency to have turned out a little more like him. But, I hadn't turned out like him. Not at all.'' (19)
Amir thinks that his dad hates him a little because his wife died when he gave birth to Amir, and because Baba does not approve of the way Amir is.
'' I wasn't like that.'' Baba sounded frustrated, almost angry. Rahim Khan laughed. '' Children aren't coloring books. You don't get to fill them with your favorite colors.'' (21)
In this quote Baba did not like how Amir acted. Amir was always reading and getting pushed around by the other kids.  It was almost as if  Baba wanted Amir to be a real man and take things like a man, like Baba did. Baba's acceptance as a father cannot be recognized by Amir so easily as he would like to.Baba can be a hard person to get soft hearted but he cares a lot about Amir. Baba is just trying hard to have a good impact and be a good role model for Amir and tries not to let his pride take away from it.
''Then a smile played on my father's lips. He opened his arms. I put the kite down and walked into his thick hairy arms. I buried my face in the warmth of his chest and wept. Baba held me close to him, rocking me back and forth. In is arms, I forgot what I'd done. And that was good.''
Baba also shows compassion and care for Amir. Baba was really proud of Amir for winning the kite tournament. Amir just wants his dad love to show ad they both have a hard time showing it, but it shows with the accomplishments they encounter. This relationship really made a difference at the end of the book, when Baba and Amir moved to the US. Baba had an illness and dies, which took a big toll in Amir's life. Though it all Baba and Amir's relation to each other makes the son and father love contribute to the defensive and life changing experiences that exploit the book into a hard life plot.

Amir ans Hassans' relationship is also very interesting in the book. I question I kept asking myself throughout the entire time I read it was, Did Amir and Hassan really have a true relationship?
''How can you call him your ''friend''?
''But he's not my friend! I almost blurted. He's my servant! Had I really thought that? Of course I haden't. I haden't. I treated Hassan well, just like a friend, better even, more like a brother. But if so, then why, when Baba's friends came to visit with their kids, didn't I  ever include Hassan in our games? Why did I play with Hassan only when no one else was around?'' (41)
Here, Amir was being bullied by Assef, a bully who hates them. Amir seemed to have gotten embarrassed and hurt my Assef's crude jokes. Here, Amir even admits that they aren't friends and gives an example of how he treated Hassan. I find that Hassan has been a better friend to Amir than Amir will be to anyone else. But, I also stop to think if Hassan really considered Amir to be his friend as well. Did Hassan just hang out with Amir because he was the servant and had to obey or because he had no one else to hag out with? This question was also fought with Hassans loyalty to Amir.
He turned to me. A few sweat beads rolled from his bald scalp. ''Would I ever lie to you, Amir agha?'' Suddenly I decided to toy with him a little. '' I don't know. Would you?'' ''I'd sooner eat dirt,'' he said with a look of indignation. '' Really? You'd do that?'' He threw me a puzzles look. '' Do what?''''Eat dirt if I told you to, '' I said. I knew I was being cruel like when I'd taunt him if he didn't know some big word... ''But I wonder,'' he added. ''Would you ever ask me to do such a thing, Amir agah?'' And, just like that, he had thrown me at his own little test. If I was going to toy with him and challenge hi for his loyalty, then he'd toy with me, test my integrity. I wished I haden't started this conversation. I forced a smile. '' Don't be stupid, Hassan. You know I wouldn't'' Hassan returned the  smile. Except his didn't look forced. '' I know,'' he said.(55)
Amir seems to have a jealousy for Hassan loyal companion to him. Hassan never fool around with Amir and would always do what he said, Amir turned his back on Hassan at the end and Hassan got raped by Assef for standing up for Amir. And did he tell anyone or get Amir in trouble? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is what got me ticked of throughout the story. Why does Amir have to be so rude to Hassan? Hassan is already his servant and does everything for him. In the end Amir tries to solve his mistake of mistreating Hassan, but never does. I don't think Air ever knew how it really felt to treat a friend and right, so now he had to live with  that mistake in the back of his head.
This novel is a never ending book of bad news and powerful, unforgetting story of a youg mans life. And, the relationships between the main characters are what drive the plot and makes the storys purpose reach out to the reader. It is a book of a hunting truth that is moving and extraordinary. This book is really good, AND I MEAN REALLY GOOD! I will never forget it.

Rest of 3rd Bokk post...

I think what Amir was tyring to say that he went through a lot, and it is hard to forget. In fact, I don;t think he will ever forget those tragic events, but he knows that he still has life and there is hope.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\3rd Book Post//////////////////////////////

We finally finished reading Kite Runners, yah! I really enjoyed reading this book. I guess I am just going to write about what I thought of the book. What really stood out to me in the story was the climax of it. You always read something terrible that happened to the characters and then another tragic event happens. It always keeps on building up.  I really didn't like most of the events that took place in the book because they always led to someone getting hurt. I do have to say that Amir had a rough life. I don't think I could ever go through what he did.
My favorite character in the story was Hassan. He so nice to Amir and Amir's father Baba. Hassan is the only character in the story in which we can see many different aspects of his like that give us different veiws of his perspective. I also like his character because the story seems to revolve around him a lot.
The events in the story was what really was driving the plot. My favorite event was when Amir and Hasssan won the Kite Flying tournament. It was like a symbol of their friendship. My least favorite event was when Amir and Baba came to America and Baba got sick, and died. I almost cried! Even though the events in the story where tragic, suspensful, heartbreaking, terrible, adn sad; they were also filled with understanding, love, hope, adn faith. I think thats why this story is so good. The characters get to know after each event that they go through and it makes them stronger.
I really like the ending:
For you, a thousand times over, I heard myself say. Then I turned and ran. It was only a smile, nothing more. It didn't make everything all right. But I'll take it. With open arms... I ran... But I didn't care...I ran with the wind blowing in my face, and a smile as wide as the Valley of Panjsher on my lips. I ran. Page 371

Sutherland Class is Awsome!

What I want to write about in this blog is this class, writing class or is it english? well anyway, this is my favorite class where we actally have to do class work, other than pe. I dont just like it because we barley get any homework( which i love !) but because of my teacher, Mr suther land!
Mr. sutherland is awsome, not because he is funny but becasue we get a lot of freedome in his classroom.  And No! I am not being a kiss up. He makes jokes all the time and I like the blogging part of the class. We get to write about whatever we want to write about and share it with others. I feel that his class is the only class in which I can chill and be happy to learn.
So far, this class has been easy and I have enjoyed the assignments we have completed. We are reading a book , Kite Runner. I really like it. Now I dont know what else to write about, oh yeah!
SO the class is fun and Imean Mr Sutherland is crazy! Not the bad type of crazy, but the type where they are funny and have cool ideas to to in class. In class I ushally just sit down and chill with what we are doing. I dont need to worry about notes or where my notebook went, or HOMEWORK! (well sometimes) Mr sutherland also makes me laugh, a lot! I mean we could just be in class talking about a book and then we are talking about some guy in a randome movie. But he knows how to teach. He doesnt bore us with notes all the time and talking the whole period. He is a true teacher.
that is what makes him stand out from all the other teachers i have in school. I guess his wasnt a blog of the class it was mostly about sutherland so I guess this is a sutherland blog.Ha ha.!
Now I cant write about the class becasue I don'thave anything else to say so i'm just going to talk about food. I want a bag of hot cheetosThey are so freakin good! Everyone I know likes them. I always eat about two or three bags a week. okay I am done writing now.
o
I found this quote from Karen's blog that should really be discussed.
''We have the right to express our opinions about whatever we want. You might not give a damn about him but we do. Just because you don't like him and don't listen to his music, it doesn't mean that the whole world is going to stop this because what you say. quite frankly you should eat your own words because you are not being tolerant yourself were not the ones getting all crazy and angry about the opposing side disagreeing with us.''
So there is this whole conflict of Justin Beiber and a lot of crap being talked about him. All what I have to say is Let him be ! I mean what has he ever done to you! People are just haters and are jealous,of him. (especially guys)
Whenever I talk about him all the guys( well some) always say hes gay, and he sings like a girl.
Well they are all just jealous that he gets all the girls and they wish they could be as good as him.
But other guys like him! They are cool with him and people should do that. I hate when people talk about him and they just don't have nothing else to do. Justin Beiber is actually nice, but I don't think he is the best artist.

Now I know everyone is gonna wanna know if I like him or not. Okay I will admit I do have some songs on my ipod and my favorite song is Somebody to love and You smile. I do think he is cute, but not hot!
Okay no one come up to me and try to change my mind thats what I think of him so deal with it and respect peoples opinion.
Well I dont know what to write about and I am hungry, Ivan is talking about Mc Donal's again and I think I am going to go get some for lunch. I like the big mac with the milk shake. I am bored! Jessica is reading her book and Ashley is finishing her homework!:) AHH! I am so hungry! Well I think I wrote enough now, bye!

Kite Runner Response #2

The kite runner has been a very interesting book. I find myself being able to relate experiences from the story to my real life in the second section. What I noticed was in the first section I got a lot of Airs childhood and how he was raised. In the second section I get a lot of manipulations of time and A LOT of Amirs relationship with his dad. ( I find that the most interesting relationship in the book)
Amir and his dad share a lot in common, but are yet so far apart, same blood, but different mind sets.
What I want to do it tell you all the interesting events that have happened in the story so far:
    1. Hassans incident with Assef
    2. Hassan goes away
    3. Amir and Baba go to the US
    4. Baba gets cancer

Those are the events that have driven most of the plot and conflict throughout the whole story.
So far, Amir is very different. I don't find him to be the same person he was before. He doesn't observe much of what goes around him, he is also not as free spirited as he was.I guess through all the trouble he has gone through it made him change. Baba has stayed the same. I find him to be the most hard headed, unemotional, stubborn, careing, thoughtful, and most courages character I ever read of. I think Amir really admires his dad.
The way I can connect is with him moving. I did not move move as far from him, but coming to a new city was difficult to me. I also had a friend who went away. She moved to a new city, very far away and I still miss her and  I wish she could be living here.
My last thoughts on the book are that it really has made me think a lot. Idon't know of what but the trou bles that go on in the book. They just see to have taught me things and show me a lot of the characters. I know I sound weird, but it is just a really good book, and I cant wait to read the rest of it.
p.s. and I cant wait to watch the movie!

Poerty

i like poetry. it is all i have to say. Many of the reasons are:
It is relaxing
I can express myself
Show people what I want to show them
I love it!
Here is a poem that I have recently wrote:
Mermaids
Inspiration drives
I inspire my self and others
It is what keeps me going
Something I learn from
Trust and Hope in
I follow a conduct
Of inspiration
No rules
Just yourself
Learn to Inspire
yourself and
others
What is your inspiration?

Now I know the title is weird, how does mermaids have to do with inspiration. Well when I think of inspiration it makes me think of mermaids. I don't know why it just does. I used to love mermaids when I was in elementary and wished I could be a mermaid. What I find in mermaids is their mysterious character, and how they take their inspiration to their exploration.
Many things inspire me, it can be people animals, or objects. Someone that inspires me is my mom. She helps me with everything and is my inspiration to keep on going. Music also inspires me. It is not the sound of the music but the mentality to have an effect on people. But the great thing of inspiration is what you decide to do with it. My inspiration is what helps me keep on going, thriving through my life, and makes me have a sense of motivation in my actions.
People should try to be more open to inspiration. Sometimes it can come from the, most unexpected places. Inspiration should not be taken for granted. don't take someone Else's work and get the credit. Let it make you think of something you can do or give you an idea of what you want to do.
Oh, here is another poem that I made mermaids Hope you like it :)

Mystery  of the Sea

Moving through the waves
Gliding past the seven seas
A glimpse of her tail
and the colors of her scales
A radient shine, shimmering through
the oceans floor
Resting aside a waterfall
seeing her reflection on the surface of the water
A beauty of the sea
Yet, such mystery that comes with her
Her long hair
combed with a shell This is a mermaid

Haters are not cool, So dont hate.

So I found Billy talking about racism in his blog and found this quote
If only we follow the golden rule "Treat your neighbors as yourself" we will all be living in a good environment. So, why cant we humans love each other?
Why are people haters?  Haters are just bitches who have problems with others that never did anything to them. I always ask myself this question, " Why Are people like that?" People just have problems, and they need to learn to just deal with them. If someone is hating on you, you Can just go up and tell that person dont and hate. I just learn to ignore the haters. even if you wanna beat their ass dont, show that you are a better person by being strong and being yourself. i sometimes think that people hate because their jealously. they are jealous of your beauty, clothes, or that you are cooler than them. maybe if people got to know each other better that could make a difference and people wouldn't hate as much. but my cousin always says
"no te comportes como los demas, has lo que teianes que hacer y dejah  que hablen de ti. tu sigue adelante"
What he says is to be yourself and let haters hate, your not the one missing anything, they are. i am not saying you have to love everybody and let them talk *@#% behind your back but  HAVE RESPECT FOR PEOPLE! i get so mad when people just talk behind your back  and they wont say it to your face. at least you can have the... well you know what I mean, just go to the person and face them, at least thats some type of respect without having to hide the truth.
my advice to people would be to be strong and be you. it is better in the long run. people will always talk stuff about you , maybe not all the time but there will be times when you hear something about you. so i am done with my paper and i have nothing else to say. ivan is talkin about easting mcdonalds and I am hungry. haha  mr sutherland is talkkin about how smakin kids is fun! hahah, but hes just kidding. all i have to say now is...
 So Why hate, appreciate.

Kite Runner: Reflection

So, we are reading this book in class called the kite runner. To tell you at first I thought the book was not interesting. The first couple of chapters made no sense to me, but its just that the book is very difficult to comprehend. The annotations that we are assigned to do help a lot though. Anyway, back to the book.
Amir seems to be having this relationship or friendship with Hassan, but Amir seems to be a *#@4% to    Hassan at times. Hassan is the servant of Amir's dad, but does that mean that Amir must not accept Hassan as a friend? In the book the Father Baba was talking to this guy, and then Amir states that he didn't even think of Hassan as a friend! Well from the way they hang out and do stuff together you would think they would be the best of friends, but Amir denies it.
Hassan also does not say that he is friends with Amir, but he is much nicer to Hassan. But, I also think of the narrator's point of view. It is described in Amir's eyes, but if we say it through Hassan eyes maybe things would be different. What Hassan does is care. He has this sort of care for Amir that I don't even see Amir having for Hassan. He wakes up and cooks him breakfast, and never does anything mean; he even takes the blame for something Amir did.
This is what really stood out to me throughout the first section  of the book. What does the relationship of these two main characters tell about their lives and the relationship they share? That really drives most of the conflict between the story. I mean, there are many other relationships between the story but none seem to play it out in action like Amir and Hassans' relationship.
My last words on the book are that it is a very heartbreaking book And I barley read the first third of the book! I really do like the way the plot is taking place. Throughout the whole story new events that occur bring out some untold truths about characters. The book is surprising, heartbreaking, but a novel needed to have a literate sense of truth and being able to comprehend it to drive the plot of the story.
